Criminal Defense

Richmond VA Criminal Defense Lawyer Since 1994

Have you been arrested on a serious criminal charge in the Greater Richmond area or Central Virginia? Is your job, freedom or future at risk?

I am criminal defense lawyer Standish Alexander, Esq. I can evaluate your case and determine if the police illegally or unconstitutionally stopped you, searched you or questioned you. If they did, I can push for a reduction of charges or outright dismissal of those charges. I also may be able to negotiate with the Commonwealth Attorney to lessen or eliminate the charge.

My extensive experience as public defender and trial lawyer has given me unique insights into how Commonwealth Attorneys and Judges handle specific matters. Thanks to my reputation for well-researched and effective defenses, I am often able to negotiate settlements and plea bargains on your behalf, so you won't have to go to trial.

Don't leave your representation to chance. Contact me immediately by phone, fax or e-mail. I want to hear your side of the story during your free consultation.

Among the criminal charges I defend against include:

  • Assault
  • Crimes Against Property
  • Theft
  • Identity Theft/Fraud
  • Domestic Violence
  • Student Crimes
  • Drug Charges
  • Juvenile Crimes
  • DUI/Reckless Driving
  • Hit and Run
  • Driving Suspended

Do not feel helpless or powerless in the face of the government's prosecutorial power. You have a friend and advocate in my law office. You will get your day in court, I will personally see to it.

Juvenile Crimes and Expungement

Records of delinquent juveniles (except for felony and traffic convictions) must be destroyed after the juvenile reaches age 19, or after 5 years since the person's last Domestic Relations District Court hearing, which ever occurs later. In the case of traffic cases, the record is destroyed after the year in which the juvenile reaches age 29, unless the juvenile later commits a felony after becoming an adult. The records of a proceeding where a juvenile has committed a felony are not destroyed. If a juvenile is found not guilty of a misdemeanor offense, he or she may ask in writing for early destruction of the records.
